Orange Peel Table Runner

A few years back I participated in a Bonnie and Camille Barn Block Swap on Instagram.  It was a lot of fun! I received this gorgeous Moda Love mini from Faith Jensen.

If you have joined an online swap you have likely had to put together a set of photos that show your preferences.  This is a fun dive into the theme of the swap where you get to visually express to your secret partner what you would like.  So in my internet travels I came across this stunning mini by @Chickenwingchub.  I have been eyeballing it for years thinking how much I wanted to make one of my own.

I finally did it!  LOL!  I decided to make it a table runner.  I used the Impressions Template Set from Fat Quarter Shop and the It’s Sew Emma pattern Round Robin.

I don’t love stitching applique or cutting it out by hand with scissors.  However, I have been drooling over the thought of a scrappy orange peel quilt for a long time, like since May 2017.

I’m so happy with how it turned out!  I love scrappy and Bonnie and Camille’s fabrics mix across all of their different lines so nicely.  I used a variety of different low volume fabrics for the backgrounds and stuck with Navy, Red, Pink & Aqua for the appliqued peels.

It’s a big table runner, finishing at 21 x 51 inches.

When I quilted it I used an edge to edge design called Feather Delight that came with my Handi Quilter Pro-Stitcher software.  Typically you use a thin batting for table runners but I used wool so it’s extra puffy and shows off those feathers.
