Hi, I’m Gina Ames.  I’ve been sewing since I was a girl.  I distinctly remember going to the fabric store for classes and the joy I felt when I finished that first garment.  It was a navy blue skirt that I loved wearing! 

I have sewed for myself off and on through the years everything from aprons to evening gowns.  When my children were babies I attempted a block of the month from a local quilt shop.  I had no idea what I was doing, (why would anyone sew such tiny seam allowances??) and no time to take classes.  I set it aside, thinking it just wasn’t for me. 

Fast forward twenty years and my mom began quilting with some of her friends.  As she would tell me about her projects I began to do some searching on the internet and came across some fabulous YouTube videos for quilting.  I learned so much from Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company and Kimberly Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop.  Their styles are very different from each other, but they are both great teachers.  I discovered a wonderful world of fabrics and fell in love with quilting.  This was about 2014.  I’ve been making quilts ever since!

I have wrestled a queen size through a domestic machine.  I free motion quilted a surprise quilt for my husband’s birthday that I only worked on while he was out of the house.  I have made a few By Annie bags.  Along the way I kept thinking how much fun it would be to have a longarm quilting machine and that day has come! 

I am super excited to begin this new chapter in my quilting journey!  My Handi Quilter Forte has a generous 24 inch throat space and a 12 foot frame.  It is equipped with Pro-Stitcher, a fabulous robotics system, enabling me to have excellent results with edge to edge quilting designs.
